The past few years have seen dramatic change in the shopping scene in Wesley Chapel. Commercial development has been ongoing and has helped to keep the community working and growing when residential construction slowed down. Whether shopping needs call for supermarkets, a discount department store, a wholesale retail store, specialty stores, or boutiques, they can be met right here in Wesley Chapel. Two major malls are also offering new shopping experiences for customers.
The Grove at Wesley Chapel, at S.R.54 and I-75, opened its first "best-in-class" retail stores in November of 2007 and will continue to open new shops, offices, and eating places until all three of its phases and outparcels are completely developed. The Cobb Grove 16 movie theater is located in The Grove's Flamingo Square.
The Shops of Wiregrass, which opened in October of 2008, has become the place to see and be seen. Built on former Wiregrass Ranch acreage, the open-air lifestyle shopping center is anchored by JCPenney, Macy's and Dillard's, with a host of favorite shops and restaurants flanking both sides of Paseo Drive and the Center Court. The entire complex is reminiscent of a small-town Main Street where shoppers are invited to stroll. Shade trees, benches, and outdoor eating areas abound, and there is even a "Little Wiregrass Ranch" playground and tour train for youngsters to enjoy.
